Download Inklets on iOS and Android: Install, First Launch, and Your First Race

Inklets is a three-player sketchbook climber you can download today on iOS and Android. If you searched for how to install Inklets on your phone, what the first launch looks like, or what happens in your opening race, this guide walks through the path from the store to the lobby, with the rising ink and last-one-standing rules spelled out in plain terms.

Where to download Inklets (iOS and Android)

The official home for store links is inklets.app. Open it on your phone and choose Download on iOS or Download on Android to reach the App Store or Google Play listing for Inklets.

You can also search the stores directly for Inklets and install from there. The game is free to download. You need a normal network connection for matchmaking and online races.

If you only want a quick taste in the browser first, game.inklets.app runs a lighter demo. For the full Sketchbook, AI Inklet Generator, and mobile match flow described here, the iOS or Android app is the right install.

Install and first launch

After install, open Inklets from your home screen. The first launch may ask for permissions the game needs to run online matches (network access is the important one). Accept or adjust these in system settings the same way you would for any mobile multiplayer title.

The main menu is built for short sessions. You should see your current Inklet, a path into play, and entry points for creation and collection. The goal of the menu is to get you from “opened the app” to “in a lobby” in a few taps, not to bury play behind long setup.

If you want the big-picture pitch before you race, our first look at Inklets covers the sketchbook page, the ink storm, and how wins feed the Sketchbook.

Before you queue: create or equip an Inklet

You do not have to use a fixed roster character. Inklets ships with base climbers and skins, and it also includes the AI Inklet Generator: you write a short text prompt, the game draws a sketchbook-style climber, and you equip it for the next run.

A practical first-session flow:

  1. Open the create or character area from the main menu.
  2. Pick a starter Inklet if you want to race immediately, or write a simple prompt (a mood, a creature idea, a silly hat) and generate one.
  3. Confirm equip so the lobby shows the Inklet you will climb as.

Prompt-based creation is optional on minute one, but it is core to the game if you care about playing as something you imagined. For a longer read on how that fits the genre, see AI character creator games.

The lobby: three players and the last-one-standing rule

When you tap play, you enter a lobby with up to three climbers total (you plus two others online). The lobby is where you see who you are, who joined, and the rule set before the countdown.

Inklets is not a race to a finish line. It is last Inklet standing on the same living page. Everyone shares one sketchbook climb while black ink rises from below. When the ink swallows a climber, they are out. The final survivor wins the match.

Lobbies stay small on purpose. Three players means you always know who is ahead, who is below you, and when a risky coin detour is worth the ink creeping up.

What your first race feels like

Once the match starts, the loop is easy to learn and hard to master:

  • Jump between ledges before they wobble, slide, spike, or snap.
  • Dodge smudges, page monsters, and chaos events that shove you off the line.
  • Grab coins on side paths while the other two climbers keep moving and the ink keeps rising.
  • Outlast the field. There is no score grind in a single run: survival relative to the other climbers is the whole contest.

Your first race will probably end in the ink. That is normal. Platforms behave badly on purpose, and the other players are real people making the same risky calls. The second run is where you start reading the page instead of reacting late.

Matches are mobile-first: one-thumb movement, quick sessions, and a clear win or loss before you are back at the menu.

After the match: coins and the Sketchbook

Coins you grab in runs feed the Sketchbook, the in-game collection of climbers, skins, page backgrounds, platform styles, trinkets, and other unlocks. Rewards are not just icons in a list; many entries repaint the climb itself. If you want a tour of what you are earning toward, read inside the Inklets Sketchbook.

Quick troubleshooting

IssueWhat to try
Store page will not loadOpen inklets.app on your device browser, or search “Inklets” in your store app.
Stuck searching for playersCheck Wi‑Fi or cellular data, force-quit and reopen, then queue again. Peak times fill lobbies faster.
Generated Inklet looks wrongShorten the prompt, try a clearer noun or mood, and regenerate before you equip.

Ready to climb

Download Inklets on iOS or Android via inklets.app, equip an Inklet, queue a three-player lobby, and treat your first run as learning the page. The ink will not wait, and neither will the other two climbers.
